Heyhey, it’s #TicTacTuesday! The 155th variety added to the Tic Tac collection, TIC TAC TWO: Cola Fizz & Lemon. This pack comes to us from Italy and is the fourth offering in the “Tic Tac TWO” line.
As I’ve said before, the Tic Tac TWO candies themselves are not the normal Tic Tac shape or size. As you can see, they are dual colored, with each flat face of the candy representing a different flavor and color (white and brown). They’re not coated, so they have a matte finish, which is pretty unusual, and the texture is different. It has that same chalky texture that you find in mints like Altoids.
As with the other flavors in this line, these are “sugar free” which is a big no-no from me, using both sorbitol and Sucralose. I don’t mind natural sugar alcohols like sorbitol or xylitol, but I really cannot stand artificial sweeteners like Sucralose. I can always spot the taste of them and really hate it. Since these are from outside the US, they used natural colorings & flavorings like beetroot, beta-carotene, curcumin, and spirulina concentrate. These candies are larger than normal, so there is a warning on the back of the pack about a choking hazard for babies.
In candy-land, cola fizz flavor is not the same as just “cola flavor.” There is a mixture of acids and baking soda here that should give a slight sense of “fizzing.” I honestly ate more of these candies than I’d like, just trying to get at where the fizz is. Not getting it.
Oh, I almost forgot…there’s also lemon. It’s not a really strong flavor, at least not strong enough to overcome the Sucralose and “fizzy cola” taste. It doesn’t save these candies in this case.
The Sucralose aftertaste is such a turn-off for me, I just couldn’t eat more than necessary to write this review and won’t be having any more.
