Heyhey, it’s #TicTacTuesday! The 146th variety added to the Tic Tac collection, TIC TAC TWO: Spearmint Fresh & Mild. This pack comes to us from Italy and is the second offering in the newer “TIC TAC TWO” line.
The candies themselves are not the normal Tic Tac shape or size. As you can see, they are dual colored, with each flat face of the candy representing a different flavor and color (white and green). They are not coated, so they have a matte finish, which is pretty unusual, and the texture is different. It has that same chalky texture that you find in mints like Altoids.
They are “sugar free” which is a big no-no from me, using both sorbitol and Sucralose. I don’t mind natural sugar alcohols like sorbitol or xylitol, but I really cannot stand artificial sweeteners like Sucralose. I can always spot the taste of them and really hate it. Since these are from outside the US, they used natural colorings like spirulina concentrate, apple concentrate, and lemon concentrate. These candies are larger than normal, so there is a warning on the back of the pack (in Italian) about a choking hazard for babies.
Supposedly, there are two distinct spearmint flavors here, fresh and mild, but I can’t tell the difference. They do really taste like sugar-free Altoids to me, but not nearly as “curiously strong.” Once again, due to the Sucralose aftertaste, I couldn’t eat more than one of these and won’t be having any more. I really don’t get why they made this flavor at all.
