Heyhey, it’s #TicTacTuesday!! The 137th variety added to the Tic Tac collection: Cherry SOUR. This pack comes to us from Slovenia, although they are manufactured in Cork, Ireland.
I’ve mentioned here before that I’m not a huge fan of cherry-flavored candies, but in this case it’s not too bad. I find that when you mix cherry and artificial sweeteners, it tends to remind me cough syrup, but we’ve got no artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors in this pack. I think that goes a long way to tasting better.
We’ve seen cherry Tic Tacs before, but this is the first time in the SOUR variety. These are plenty sour, generously provided by malic, tartaric, and citric acids, but it’s not blow-your-head-off sour. Of course, the more candies you eat at once, the stronger the flavor. One candy on its own is actually not very sour. But once you hit 2+ at a time, YES.
At 49g, the packs are pretty large, so you can really get your sour on! The sour BAM art on the label gets the point across, but at first, I almost didn’t notice it because it’s yellow text on yellow-green. Maybe the SOUR should have been in all red, and it would have been super-clear.
Very often, outside the US, candies are only colored using natural colors, and these are no different. They’ve got beet extract and carotenes to get that deep red color. These will likely fade over time in the pack as natural colors don’t last quite as long as their artificial counterparts, so eat ’em quick!
