Heyhey, it’s #TicTacTuesday (but this time on a Wednesday)!! The 135th variety added to the Tic Tac collection: FRESH+ Pompelmo Menta (Grapefruit Mint). This pack comes to us from Italy, like the other FRESH+ packs I’ve found, and is the first new flavor in this line since 2019.
I’m REALLY loving these. Several years ago, they sold Pink Grapefruit Tic Tacs in the US and they were my very favorite flavor for a long time. These are a little different since they include that “mint” aspect to them. Actually, there’s no mint flavor but instead, these are sweetened with Xylitol which is known to have a “cooling effect” in the mouth, so they’ve used “menta/mint” to describe that. It probably would have been better to call these Pompelmo Fresco (Cool Grapefruit), which would have been more accurate. The grapefruit flavor is really quite realistic and has a nice little bit of bitterness to it. This is due to the inclusion of powdered grapefruit juice in the ingredients.
The shape & size of these candies varies from the standard Tic Tac shape in that they are slightly larger and flatter than usual. If you bite one in half, you can see little little “crystals of freshness” which are colored green/blue using spirulina concentrate. The taste lingers in your mouth for a good while and it’s very refreshing.
Sadly, I was only able to procure 2 packs of this flavor and I could eat them all in one sitting, for sure. Of course, the packs do include the typical Xylitol warning (in Italian), that excessive consumption can have a laxative effect. So be careful, friends.
