Heyhey, it’s #TicTacTuesday!! The 125th variety added to the Tic Tac collection: GUM Liquid Center Sour Cherry. It’s probably the longest name of any candy out there, and I’m not sure it’s a distinction that this candy lives up to. These can be found in Italy and possibly other parts of Europe, but haven’t made it to the US yet (and I doubt they will).
There’s a lot of similarities between this flavor and last week’s flavor GUM Liquid Center Lime Mint and most of them are not particularly positive. We have pretty much the same ingredients (yay, 7 kinds of sweetener), the same monster-size/shape/color, and very similar packaging.
What is different here is the flavor and the “chewability” of this gum. The Lime Mint was pretty terrible, I had to spit it out almost immediately. For Sour Cherry, I was able to chew it for a bit before being repulsed. I wanted to see how long I could chew it before the flavor faded, and it was indeed longer than the previous flavor, but I couldn’t stand it after about a minute. Personally, I don’t like the taste of cherry and artificial sweetener. It tastes really strange to me, kind of like cough syrup. I could see how some might enjoy this though.
The liquid center wasn’t particularly liquidy. I didn’t get that “gush” feeling like you might get from other liquid-filled candies. Even the Lime Mint seemed wetter, so maybe this was just a bad batch.
I’m going to give them an extra point here because they’re branching out and trying really different things with this gum. Unfortunately, that still only gets a 1 out of 5.
