Heyhey, it’s #TicTacTuesday!! The 122nd variety added to the Tic Tac collection: FRESH+ Eucalyptus. This pack comes to us from Italy and it is our second entry in the new European “FRESH+” line of Tic Tacs. While I’m not able to find any information about this line on the internet, I have procured 3 flavors so far (yep, 1 more to post next week!).
I really enjoy the flavor of eucalyptus in mints & candies. I recently stopped briefly in Sweden on our way back to the US from Austria & Czech Republic and I grabbed a bunch of flavors of Läkerol to try (including Cactus, weird). My favorite was by far the eucalyptus. It’s not a particularly popular flavor in the US. Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever seen any candies in this flavor here.
They went in hard on the “FRESH+” concept with the mint and cooling being seriously dominant. While the eucalyptus is present and pleasant, it still takes a back-seat to the menthol. These are REALLY minty and do have the xylitol cooling effect I’m so fond of. The order of ingredients is actually menthol, powdered liquorice extract (wha??), and then eucalyptus. It definitely shows in the taste, although I don’t really get any liquorice flavor.
I’m happy they didn’t use any banned coloring agents in these candies, as they did in last week’s entry FRESH+ Liquorice. These do include spirulina concentrate to color the flavor crystals inside. It makes for some pretty crystals, if you do actually bite one in half and eat it in two servings. Then again, if you do that you’re probably a psychopath, so…
Sadly, I was only able to get the one pack but I wish I could find these in the US, I’d be purchasing them often. Incredibly fresh, tasty, cooling, and breath-freshening. I love this flavor.
