Heyhey, it’s #TicTacTuesday!! The 151st variety added to the collection: Dragon Fruit. These came to us from Canada and were part of the Tic Tac Choose Your Match campaign a couple years ago, winning the popular vote for the best flavor of the bunch.
I think they’re really tasty but a bit confusing. I can’t really place the flavor. At first, it seems like they taste a bit like “bubble gum” flavor. After doing a little online search, I learned that what we think of as bubble gum flavor is actually just “tutti frutti” or a mix of different fruit flavors. I’m not sure that really approximates a dragon fruit or pitaya, since dragon fruit doesn’t really have much of a distinct flavor. It’s a bit pear-like, but these don’t even hint at pear. When you bite into these, they do have a little tart flavor in the center, which tastes really good.
These candies are made “artificial and natural flavors,” and with beet root extract for color. They do include real concentrated dragon fruit juice (although it’s the very last ingredient).
This pack was tricky to find but I think they are tasty enough to make it into a regular distribution. Hopefully they’ll make a comeback soon.
